In Eastern tradition, the masculine essence is measured by ability and continuity of an action, and the feminine by the spontaneous change of action. The three stitches above the yin yang symbol show the perfect continuity of consciousness, which corresponds to the perfect masculinity. The 6 o'clock position shows the perfect femininity, which is described with change, spontaneity and movement. The middle, the so-called YinYang symbol, describes the perfect harmony between the male and female essence. Those complement each other perfectly, are complementary though completely different and carry a part of the other.
